HTTP://FIERTH.COM – “Get yourself a look” is just one of the salty bits of advice tossed off by the legendary Maria Callas; it arrives early and often in Terrence McNally’s brilliant ‘Master Class’, and is subsequently augmented with deeper, darker life lessons offered up by one of opera’s most revered, scandalous, and controversial figures.

http://fierth.com – The holiday season in New York City means many things- slow moving tourists, shopping zombies, pushy bell ringers; but it also means the most fabulous window displays in the world. Stores such as Barney’s, Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue are famous for their December window spectacles, but there is a new and decidedly more esoteric player in the field- a shop called FD, at East 65th street and Madison Avenue is enchanting passersby with it’s unique holiday widow displays, created by artist and designer Morne Ferreira.

As yet another RaMadonna, High Holy Week of The Lady Ciccone (birthday, August 17) comes to a close- let us reflect on one of the more mysterious episodes in The Blonde One’s recent history. In the Spring of 2009, ‘Madge’ aka ‘Esther’, aka ‘Old Yella’ “had been thrown off a horse that had been startled by paparazzi” according to her press rep. This ‘accident’ follows a 2005 incident outside London wherein the ‘singer’ had another fall from a horse, cracking three ribs and breaking her collarbone and her hand. (unfortunately, not the hand she writes lyrics with).
http://fierth.com – By Mike Diamond – Even without glancing at the calendar, I can tell that summer is winding down. The sound of the ice cream man’s relentlessly cheerful melody makes me want to take a sledgehammer to the truck’s speaker. I am tired of depriving myself carb binges- (a God given right!)- just because warm temps mean less layers. And really, I just don’t approve of people wearing flip flops on the subway. Gross!

Who else but Jackie Beat can take a camp classic film like “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” and take it to even higher levels of lunacy and laughter? Based on the legendary Rovert Aldrich directed 1965 gothic kitsch cult favorite, “Whatever Happened To Busty Jane?” is an outrageously hilarious and definitely ’un p.c.’ re-imagining.
