Fierth sits down at the bar with the perfectly pickeled Margoh! Channing, who returns to the stage this week in her newly Updated show Tipsy! Margoh has quite the life story and she wants to tell you all about her exploits, at least the ones she can remember.

FIERTH: What is your name?
MARGOH: MargOH! Channing
FIERTH: Do you have a nick-name?
MARGOH: Depends on who you ask but most commonly called “Drunkie Drunkerson”
FIERTH: What is your motto?
MARGOH: Champagne is for everyday, not just New Years Eve…
FIERTH: How do you describe your work?
MARGOH: Like a cat being thrown off a roof! It twists and turns but always gracefully lands on its feet.
FIERTH: What accomplishment are you most proud of ?
MARGOH: Living to 64…it hasn’t been easy…and every time my birthday comes around I’m like…I’m still here…Thank god I was born with two livers. I should really thank my parents who happen to be first cousins.
FIERTH: What about your work frustrates you ?
MARGOH: Nothing, I ache for my audience…
FIERTH: What is the secret to success?
MARGOH: OH! Rum, Gin ,Vodka, Tequila, Triple sec…I guess a Long Island Iced Tea…
FIERTH: What do you like most about what you do?
MARGOH: Making people laugh…it makes me giggle and usually pee a little
FIERTH: Where are you based , where do you call home ?
MARGOH: I’m based in Brooklyn but my heart belongs to Bangor…where I was born the daughter of poor fishmongers and where I was crowned Little Miss Lobster claw of 1958
FIERTH: Describe your home in 6 words or less.
MARGOH: Liz Taylor would love it here…
FIERTH: How do you keep it real?
MARGOH: I listen to Cheryl Lynn’s “Got to be real” everyday…
FIERTH: What were you like as a child?
MARGOH: Horny…I developed very early, I had double d breasts and a bush at age 12
FIERTH: Where did you grow up ?
MARGOH: Bangor, Maine .where the population was eighty percent lobster and twenty percent white…I mean what chance did a curvaceous clam like me anyhow…
FIERTH: Describe a time/event in your life that you’re nostalgic for.
MARGOH: The time Rock Hudson bent me over and banged me doggie style and told me to take it like a man…those were the good ole days…
FIERTH: As a teenager where did you think you would be now?
MARGOH: I always knew I’d be famous but I always thought I’d been bigger ya know. I never thought my boobs would shrink so much…

MARGOH: Demanding but sweet as a salty dog

MARGOH: Well when I got caught banging Neil Sedaka in Halston’s shower I kept a stiff upper lip and ran off to Bangkok for twenty years…I guess I didn’t handle it well at all. Can I have a redo?
FIERTH: Have you ever felt hopeless? How did you get through it?
MARGOH: Everyday…I watch Eartha kitt videos on youtube and that perks me up
FIERTH: What makes you angry?
MARGOH: An empty bottle of booze

MARGOH: I used to put on burlesque shows down at the docks for the fisherman and would tell them for $5 my mother Sully would put out…

MARGOH: Just the other night partying with Big Ang’s crew and getting home at 4am…I can’t go into too many details but you never know when MargOH! may show up as the next cast member of Mob wives…
FIERTH: Are you a morning or night person?
MARGOH: I love the night but I really love the morning so I can have a Mimosa
FIERTH: Do you have any obsessions right now?
MARGOH: Dance Moms, I’m obsessed with Abby and where she gets those big sweat suits
FIERTH: What is your greatest extravagance?
MARGOH: Expensive costumes..You can’t spend enough on glamour.
FIERTH: What is your guilty pleasure?
MARGOH: Traveling, I love going new places but I always feel guilty leaving mother Sully and Berna behind…
FIERTH: If you could buy anything regardless of cost, what would you buy?
MARGOH: Lady Gaga, just to have her do light dusting and wash the dishes…

MARGOH: Making my signature drink, a mojito, Fidel Castro taught me how to make them.

MARGOH: Yelling at my wardrobe mistress Berna Breckenridge like I do every night because she bays at the moon

FIERTH: Who are your main inspirations?
MARGOH: There are so many but Judy Garland is the tops for me. She was a true performer and I try and take that to heart on stage. To be true. My performance muse has always been Sandra Bernhard; I love her performance style and delivery. Eartha Kitt for her sex appeal…loved her…There are so many of my facebook friends that inspire me and they know who they are. My MAN-ee inspires me every day, he has a childlike sense of adventure that is fun
FIERTH: Whom do you despise?
MARGOH: OH! dear…despise is such a strong word…I’ll keep that to myself…it motivates me…though I will say I despise scenes or cliques
FIERTH: Who do you have your eye on right now?
MARGOH: OH! I love Santiago Venegas, he is very talented and so sweet and when he sings all of that comes through, very special
FIERTH: What is the funniest joke you have ever heard?
MARGOH: I loved Totie Fields and I love the one about Shirley Temple

MargOH! Channing brings her acclaimed show MARGOH! CHANNING IS TIPSY to The Laurie Beechman Theatre (407 West 42nd Street) for one night only — Friday, September 28, at 10:00 PM.
MARGOH! CHANNING IS TIPSY is an evening with drag superstar MargOH! Channing. This multi-character comedy features reminisces about MargOH!’s family, her gay lovers and the ups and downs of her career while tackling such subjects as rape, incest, race, political correctness, sexual orientation, and the power of Liza.
MARGOH! CHANNING IS TIPSY features MargOH!’s long time Gay fiancee Manny Champagne (Jeff Catlow-Shea), Diamond Daquiri (Crystal Rona Peterson) and the Jarad Astin Trio. The show is written and created by writer, comedian, and performance artist BT Shea, with musical direction by Jarad Astin and direction/special material by Thom Fogarty.
MargOH! Channing (BT Shea) is a writer, comedian and performance artist from Providence, Rhode Island. MargOH! now based in New York created a highly successful variety show The MargOH! Channing Show for MNN from 2003-2006 and included guests Michael Musto, Penny Arcade and Nellie McKay. MargOH! made her cabaret debut in 2007 with The MargOH! Channing Variety Hour at The D-Lounge at the Darryl Roth Theater. In 2011 MargOH! premiered her new work MargOH! Channing is Tipsy to rave reviews and made her London debut at the Phoenix Artists Club. Ms. Channing recently became a contributing writer for the nightlife zine Fierth.com and had her short story Prohibition Inhibition featured in the Coelacanth Journal.
MARGOH! CHANNING IS TIPSY takes place on Friday, September 28, at 10 PM at The Laurie Beechman Theatre (407 West 42 Street). Doors open half an hour before showtime.
