Fierth sits down with AB SOTO, West Coast Rapper , Designer , Stylist and one to look out for , his releases stimulate all of the senses and we are dying to see what he comes up with next. Get to know AB SOTO

FIERTH:        What is your name?

        AB SOTO

 FIERTH:        Do you have a nick-name?

AB SOTO:      My close friends call me AB

FIERTH:        What is your motto?

AB SOTO:      Don’t be shady!

FIERTH:        How do you describe your work?

AB SOTO:      2 words- BANJEE POWER!

FIERTH:        How do you keep it real?

AB SOTO:      It’s very simple- REAL.NESS. Lol!

FIERTH:        How tall are you?

AB SOTO:      5’7″

FIERTH:        What exactly are you wearing right now?

AB SOTO:      GERLAN JEANS sweatshirt & black Calvin undies

FIERTH:        What were you doing right before this interview?

AB SOTO:      Late night shenanigans with friends.

FIERTH:        What were you like as a child?

AB SOTO:      I was a fierce little queen!! I was letting these girls HAVE IT!! I was owning my fierceness from the get go HUNEY! Eeeeeooowww!!! (said in a BANJEE voice)

FIERTH:        How would your best friend describe you?

AB SOTO:      Outspoken. Committed. Loyal. Butch Queen.

FIERTH:        As a teenager where did you think you would be now ?

AB SOTO:      Exactly where I’m at believe it or not. Such a blessing.

FIERTH:        Describe a time/event in your life that you’re nostalgic for.

AB SOTO:      Some say chivalry is dead. I say- CRUISING is dead. I miss the feeling of discovering someone across the bar is also gay and you both are too nervous to approach each other.

FIERTH:        If someone wrote a biography on your life , what do you think the title should be?

AB SOTO:      “La Chola BANJEE”

FIERTH:        List 4 quirky things about yourself.

AB SOTO:

-I love solitude.

-I hate going to bed yet I love sleeping in.

-I have a photographic memory. I remember the strangest things.

-I write everything on Post-Its & use highlighters to highlight everything.

 

FIERTH:        Post a haiku based on your life

AB SOTO:

Roses are red.

Violets are blue.

FIERTH:        If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

AB SOTO:      I’d learn how to function on 3 hours of sleep.

FIERTH:        What brings you the most joy?

AB SOTO:      Authenticity, loyalty, family & friends.

FIERTH:        What motivates you in life?

AB SOTO:      Music & Art

FIERTH:        If you weren’t doing what you are doing now, what do you think you would be doing?

AB SOTO:      Anything in the arts. I would die if I wasn’t able to be artistic.

FIERTH:        What makes you angry ?

AB SOTO:      Mediocrity.

FIERTH:        What did you do growing up that got you into trouble?

AB SOTO:      I was suspended in the 2nd grade for taking my dick out during recess for all the girls & boys to see.

FIERTH:        Have you ever felt hopeless? How did you get through it?

AB SOTO:      Yes, high school was lame. I got the fuck out of there as soon as I could. Eeeeoooww!!! (said in a BANJEE voice)

FIERTH:        What do you think about and are the first three things you do first after waking up in the morning?

AB SOTO:      Snooze. Coffee. Stare out the window. Emails. Shower. More coffee. I have a peculiar coffee ritual.

FIERTH:        What were you doing last night at Midnight?

AB SOTO:      Avoiding bedtime.

FIERTH:        What do you think about before falling asleep?

AB SOTO:      Everything! It’s so hard for me to pause being creative right before bed. I wish I didn’t have to. I try to make a list to clear my mind but then I end up with 8 or 9 Post-Its of stuff I could be doing. Sleeping is such a chore. I try to procrastinate sleep as long a I can. However, going to bed after sex is a different story. Eeeeeeow!!!

FIERTH:        You can trade places with any other person, living or dead, for 24 hours. Who would you choose and why?

AB SOTO:      Harvey Milk. I’m intrigued by gay history.

FIERTH:        Which stars, if any leave you star struck?

AB SOTO:      None really.

FIERTH:        Who are your main inspirations?

AB SOTO:      I’m inspired by creative people, amazing music, passionate art, bold photography, pop art, gay history, foreign films, documentaries & anything from the 90′s. I’m still discovering that a lot of my inspiration somehow falls into one of these categories. I grew up listening to a lot of Rap, Soul, and R & B.

FIERTH:        Whom do you despise?

AB SOTO:      Copycats.

FIERTH:        Ever had a rumor spread about you?

AB SOTO:      No, these queens know better.

FIERTH:        Do you believe in karma?

AB SOTO:      I believe in energy. You get what you put out.

FIERTH:        What’s something about yourself that no one knows?

AB SOTO:      That I’ve had 2 beers on this question and still don’t have an answer.

FIERTH:        What’s the strangest thing you’ve done this week?

AB SOTO:      Sex in a “strange” position… hehe

FIERTH:        What’s the sweetest thing anyone’s ever done for you?

AB SOTO:      That’s a tough one since I’m surrounded by so many lovely people. So many sweet moments come to mind…

FIERTH:        What is the funniest joke you have ever heard?

AB SOTO:      All the jokes from Queens of Comedy DVD.

FIERTH:        Describe your home in 6 words or less

AB SOTO:      Colorful. Collage. Organized. Peaceful.

FIERTH:        Do you collect anything? If so, what?

AB SOTO:      I like to collect photographs that inspire me or have an intimate memory.

FIERTH:        What’s the weirdest item you’ve ever mourned losing?

AB SOTO:      I’ve never been attached to my possessions. During my last year of college, while on my lunch break, I remember having 2 hours to move out of my apartment. I tossed everything into a dumpster near an alley. EVERYTHING. Sofa. chairs. Table. Books. Lamps. Dishes. ALL OF IT. I felt so free. I never forget that feeling. I throw something out on a daily basis.

FIERTH:        What is your greatest extravagance?

AB SOTO:      Getting lost in the creative process.

FIERTH:        If you could buy anything regardless of cost, what would you buy?

AB SOTO:      A huge house.

FIERTH:        Do you have any obsessions right now?

AB SOTO:      Yes. Scruffy cubs & salt & pepper hair.

FIERTH:        What is your guilty pleasure?

AB SOTO:      Swallowing.

FIERTH:        What is your “ Safety Word”

AB SOTO:      “Bitch- UNTIE ME!!!” Lol!

AB SOTO:      Living life authentically & to the fullest.

FIERTH:        Do you believe in reincarnation?

AB SOTO:      I believe I was a leather daddy in a previous life.

FIERTH:        Do you have a bucket list?

AB SOTO:      Travel. Travel. Travel. I love to travel.
