Fierth: What is your name?
Fierth: Do you have a nick-name?
Fierth: What is your motto?
Stryker: Do it. Earn it. Own it.
Fierth: How do you describe your work?
Stryker: Rarely with a whisper… usually accompanied by emphatic gestures.
Fierth: What about your work (or process) frustrates you?
Stryker: When clients try to turn a fitting into a porn
Fierth: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Stryker: I experience as each piece goes from a speck of dust in the air, sprouts into an idea, forms conceptual legs, sheds its many different forms, until the beast is created and released into the city. I’m not as proud of any accomplishments as I am of a particular moment, and that moment is when I see joy in someone’s eye and inspiration in their heart from just seeing and wearing my creation. Every day is a reward.
Fierth: What is the secret to success?
Stryker: When I find out, you’ll be the first to know.
Fierth: What exactly are you wearing right now?
Stryker: A jockstrap and a smile.
Fierth: What do you like most about what you do?
Stryker: The constant experience of creation and inspiration. Throw me a concept and watch my tail wag.
Fierth: How do you keep it real?
Stryker: I’m just me. That’s all I can be.
Fierth: Where are you based; where do you call home?
Stryker: Brooklyn… I tried living on the island, but it felt too alienating.
Fierth: Describe your home in 6 words or less
Stryker: Spacious, Productive, Loving, and Anatomically Correct.
Fierth: What were you like as a child?
Fierth: Where did you grow up?
Fierth: As a teenager where did you think you would be now?
Stryker: I always wanted to be a child actor… I guess I grew out of that phase.
Fierth: How would your best friend describe you?
Fierth: What are some qualities you value in your friends?
Stryker: Honesty, dependability, independence, drive, confidence, and they need to be entirely open-minded
Fierth: What are some quirky things about yourself.
- I have a running list of catch phrases I say… but I don’t always realize I do it.
- Many of the things I read are “how to” and “history of” books.
- I can’t count.
Fierth: Post a haiku based on your life
Hunty moves to New York
designs erotic clothes and
lives a sex-less life
I call it ironic…
Fierth: If someone wrote a biography on your life, what do you think the title should be?
Stryker: In The End…. or maybe TopStitch…
Fierth: If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Stryker: Speak several languages fluently
Fierth: Describe a time when you made the best of a public gaffe.
Stryker: Like the time I wore a jock and didnt realize my shorts were transparent? or the time I… either way, we live inNew York, where there’s ALWAYS something happening… no matter what happens just own it and shrug it off. Chances are no matter what kind of public atrocity you become in that moment, I give your audience two hours tops before they find something else to distract them and make them forget all about what happened. Lasting embarrassment simply comes from forgetting that others have their own lives of shit to worry about.
Fierth: Have you ever felt hopeless? How did you get through it?
Stryker: We all feel a little hopeless sometimes. I said “I’m stronger than this,”… Call up a friend and have them talk you off the ledge. It’s never as high up as it seems, but falling from it will hurt worse than you know.
Fierth: What makes you angry?
Stryker: Inconsiderate people
Fierth: What brings you the most joy?
Stryker: Giving and receiving anonymous gifts and gestures of kindness.
Fierth: What motivates you in life?
Stryker: The prospects of eventually being debt-free
Fierth: If you weren’t doing what you are doing now, what do you think you would be doing instead?
Stryker: I can’t imagine doing anything else.
Fierth: What did you do growing up that got you into trouble?
Stryker: I drove way too fast … but efficiently
Fierth: Write a brief story about an actual ‘accidental adventure’ you’ve had.
Stryker: I drove two hours out toWestern Massachusettsto hang out with and casually fuck my neighbor’s hot gay brother. On the way home my car broke down and I had no cellphone…
Fierth: Are you a morning or night person?
Stryker: Both… and Neither… when I’m motivated, I lose track of time entirely.

Stryker: Pretty queens who don’t work for what they have and still expect more.

Fierth: Do you believe in karma?
Stryker: I do… I’d elaborate but I also believe in jinxes.
Fierth: What’s the sweetest thing anyone’s ever done for you?
Stryker: The first REAL man I met in this city game me a place to stay, food to eat, and taught me a trade until I had a job and an apartment of my own. He taught me lessons that would’ve taken years to learn and gave me experiences I would have not had on my own.
Fierth: Have you ever had a rumor spread about you?
Stryker: Who hasn’t?
Fierth: What’s something about yourself that no one knows?
Stryker: Some of the rumors are true.
Fierth: Which causes do you believe in the most, and why?
Stryker: There are so many to choose from… but the biggest one would have to be Housing Works. It really has bettered the lives of some really truly great people in my life. Without them, I wouldn’t be who I am.
