The Fire Island Pines fire department requested help from mainland fire departments last night to fight a fire in two commercial buildings, officials said.

Suffolk Fire Control officials said about 20 fire departments responded to fight the blaze on Fire Island Boulevard that was reported about 9:15 p.m.
