Breakdown with THE KIKI TWINS: Interview with XELLE
THE KIKI TWINS are really feeling the funky, fresh sounds from new pop music group XELLE. Their new single, Party Girl (which is so slick and so pop, it’s sickening!) is now available on iTunes!
What do you do: Take over the world with our fierce and fabulous pop music.
Where are you based: New York City
1. So tell us, what is the most FIERTH thing about you?
The most FIERTH thing about us is the way we turn it out when we hit the clubs. We storm the stage and sing, dance and dominate, leaving the people begging for more. We’re like kamikaze party girls, except we never die!
2. What type of art do you create?
We make the kind of pop music that makes you jump up and down screaming “THAT’S MY JAM!” when it comes on in the club. We’re filling the void for people who miss the girl pop super groups of years gone by, and bringing a new party to the present and future.
3. What’s going on right now for you?
We are ambushing clubs all over New York City doing surprise performances of our debut smash single, “Party Girl,” and generally making people’s lives better by exploding into their consciousness. Our song is getting played on MTV, we’re making our first music video, and Mimi Imfurst, one of the XELLE girls, is part of the cast this season of on LOGO. We are also going to be touring the US, so watch out for us, ’cause we could pop up anywhere, anytime.
4. What’s on your plate for the rest of 2011?
2011 is already and will continue to be an amazing, breakout year for us, with national tour dates scheduled, more hit songs, more unbelievable videos and more eye-popping fashion. Keep a close watch on us so you can say you “remember us when…”
5. Who’s on your radar? Who should we be keeping an eye on?
We are huge pop music fans who love bright new stars, so we look in the mirror a lot. Great artists just always seem to be in there.
6. What is something no one knows about you?
We are actually three 12-year-old sisters who started out singing together in our daddy’s mega-church in Dallas, Texas. Our name used to be the Three Wise Hens. We don’t know why we ever changed it, really.
7. What are some of your pet peeves?
You know when you’re getting into drag at 1 in the morning, your phone is ringing, your sequin corset won’t close properly, you can’t find your sparkly 4-inch heels, you only have 15 minutes to get downtown to perform in front of 600 people and you get glue from your fake eyelashes in your eye? Actually, we sort of love moments like those.
8. If you could be anywhere right now doing anything with anyone, tell us where, what and with who it would be.
200-city world tour with us headlining and Britney Spears and the Spice Girls as opening acts. Give us, like, a year. It’ll happen.
9. Where can people find out more about you and keep up with you?
We love our fans and we interact with them every day on:
One final question…
10. Are we there yet?
We are definitely there and have been there for a while. We’re just waiting for the rest of the world to catch up.
