Happy Birthday Roisin Murphy !
Happy Birthday RóisÃn Murphy
Pop stars explode and fade, but true creative geniuses are rare. RóisÃn Murphy is a unique flower in the pop world, a one woman artistic combustion! She is probably best known as front for the trip-hop/electronica group Moloko. RóisÃn met boyfriend Mark Brydon at a party in 1994. Chatting him up… she asked, “Do you like my tight sweater? †The two hit it off, formed Moloko, and a year later released their debut album Do you like my tight sweater? Moloko’s four studio albums shone bright through a crowded sea of electronica with a sound all their own…elevating them from the pack. The remix of Sing it Back became an international anthem featured on 110 compilation albums. Their album Things to Make and Do reached number 3 on the UK Album Charts. RóisÃn and Mark’s break up caused Moloko’s demise.
RóisÃn rebounded in 2005 with a brilliantly inventive solo album: Ruby Blue. Defying her label’s request for more “radio-friendly†music, she remained true to her uniquely individual style. RóisÃn’s second album, Overpowered, showcased an unpredictable Disco Chic elation in 2007, and powered a sold out world tour. Recently RóisÃn released several new tracks online… signaling a possible third album in the works. Viktor & Rolf featured RóisÃn live on the runway throughout their Spring/Summer 2010 Paris show. Her spectacular, yet toned down performance live on the runway, set the standard for the new wave of live performances at runway shows.Miss Murphy knows how to work the stage, rocking outrageous outfits long before the likes of Lady Gaga. Her bold energetic performances involve countless dress changes, fierce backup singers and superb musicians. RóisÃn Murphy live is a definite “MUST SEE†– do not miss the opportunity! You are guaranteed a mind blowing audio/visual experience. Happy Birthday RóisÃn and keep it coming…the music world needs you!
