Kylie Minogues Birthday : May28

Kylie first hit the world of pop in 1988 after a successful stint as a teen soap opera star in Australia’s Neighbors.  Ever since she has delighted us with unapologetic pop music for over 20 years. She’s loved the world over selling more than 68 million in records, racking up numerous awards (including multiple ARIA and Brit Awards and a Grammy), boasting sell out show stopping tours and even receiving the Order of the British Empire from Queen Elizabeth II for service to music and France’s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for recognition of significant contributions to the arts. Her single Can’t Get You Out of My Head reached number one in more than 40 countries, and the album Fever(2001) was a hit throughout the world, including the United States. As an actress she played the Green Fairy in Moulin Rouge and her 2007 appearance on the UK’s Dr Who drew 13.31 million viewers, the show’s highest viewing figures since 1979.

Through the years Kylie stuck to her pop roots cementing herself as a gay icon. She’s a breast cancer survivor that shows no signs of slowing down.  On July 5th 2010 she will release her 11th studio album Aphrodite. The girl is not going away anytime soon.  On June 3, 2010 she will be honoring Jean Paul Gaultier for his lifelong contribution to men’s fashion and the fight against AIDS  as the host of the inaugural AmfAR “Inspiration Gala” at the New York Public Library. To top it all off, in March 2010 Kylie was declared by researchers as the “most powerful celebrity in Britain”.  Although her success may not rise to “American” standards, she has certainly proven herself a world class superstar. Keep on rocking girl! You are a true talent.
